Happy Monday!
This week we want to share some simple pleasures with you… island images that make us smile. They may seem a bit sappy to some, but we sincerely hope they uplift your day!
We can hear the sound of gentle surf and feel the sun pouring down in this photo of an aged conch shell slowly bleaching in the afternoon rays. And we hope you can too, wherever you are.
On a lazy hazy afternoon this week, the empty horizon off Cinnamon Bay was serene with a lone boat and a mooring laying in wait. When this sailboat came into view we smiled at the thought that it would soon be home.
A client watching at a photoshoot this week commented that we must work all the time to afford living here. It’s true, most of the time. But we also spend a little time enjoying an antidote we love. We took this photo of one right around the corner from our photo shoot. The ancient Caribes gave it the name by which we still call it today.

Island Hammock Ready And Waiting
Hammock. A gentle swing is guaranteed to put work out of our minds, life into perspective and make us smile. It makes us slow down and appreciate our surroundings, and the simple beauty island-wide.
Wild flowering vines like this Coral Vine are prolific throughout the Virgin Islands, and photos always bring smiling thoughts of home.
Our island is not perfect. Recent brush removal along North Shore Road uncovered some unsightly litter carelessly tossed by passing vehicles. Our island deserves better – so please be a part of the solution and not the problem.
On the other hand, a lone coconut taken root on a sandy beach always uplifts our sprits. Where it floated or rolled from, we’ll never know but its resiliance is a beautiful thing. We hope the young palm grows tall and strong and can someday provide natural beach shade for sunny afternoons.
Every day and every evening, the simple pleasures of living on an island take our breaths away. Sometimes we just have to share.
Until Later,
Karin and Bob Schlesinger

This is the St. john I had to leave behind, and now you are bringing it back to me. Thank you, thank you.
