The Right Light
| Getting quality photos can be a surprising challenge on St.
John, despite our picture-perfect scenery. Shooting when there are some clouds overhead offer the
most diversity in any shoot, providing pleasant sky patterns, and multiple natural contrasts. We watch weather patterns closely as dust from the
Saharas or ash from the volcano on Montserrat can make every picture appear
flat or harsh and every background dull and hazy. |

Normally, the best time of day to photograph the exterior
is when the sun directly lights the primary façade. Either mid-morning or mid-afternoon sunlight can be used
for clean/bright shots. This allows brilliant light and crisp shadows to
help accentuate the overall scenery and bring out the architectural, landscaping
and view details. |

Shooting interior-to-exterior views with a balanced exposure can be more
complicated. An east facing villa which
receives the sun in the morning shoots best in the afternoon. |

Because often the views are in multiple directions all at once,
professional techniques make a big difference.

How We Work

A typical photo session last 3 hours but large villas/estates may require a
second shoot of 1 or more hours to capture all features and amenities with ideal
lighting.
For all packages: Web-ready images will be provided along
with the original high resolution photos. An optional CD or DVD slide show can be
made that can used as a potential client promotion tool. Minor Photoshop
corrections may be applied that help adjust brightness, contrast, lens
distortion from wide angle views, etc.
We believe in showing reality at its best - please do
not ask us to hide telephone lines, or neighboring properties. We can work
around these obstacles and still provide you with beautiful photos to suit your
needs. |
