Special occasions are always great reasons for new photos, whether they be birthdays, anniversaries or engagements. Here in the islands, every day is a special day to celebrate and there is no better way than a vacation portrait.Whether you are looking for a muti-generational canvas for the fireplace, family candids for your scrapbook, or perfect pictures for next year's Christmas Cards, Tropical Focus Photography will give you stunning, professional results that are top-notch and with that island flair that make us unique. FAQsWhat should we wear?Dressing in similar colors/styles strongly recommended. Long pants should be rolled up on the beach. Avoid loud prints and patterns unless the whole party is coordinated with these. Simplicity is key and keeping it plain goes a long way to creating a lasting memory. Feel free to bring clothing changes. What else can we bring? Props can personalize some of your images. I-pods, favorite team jerseys, hats, and toys all work. Before you buy props for holiday cards or engagement photos, check with us as we have some props on-hand for your use. Can we go into the water? Absolutely - in formal, casual or swimsuit attire. It's your shoot. Some beaches offer changing rooms, showers and refreshments. What if it Rains? Our portrait schedules are flexible and a backup day/time can usually be arranged. For this reason, we suggest scheduling your portrait shoot at the beginning or middle of your vacation. Also, please know that we have some nice ideas for less than optimal weather conditions. You can expect some wonderful results regardless of the weather. What is the best time of day for a family vacation portrait session? Whenever works for your schedule is best. Our islands look magical all day and night. If you want a particular look - vibrant blue water, sun-kissed soft skin tones, etc. - check out our blog for more information on lighting or e-mail us with your goals. We're only coming to St. John for the day - how do we get around? This depends on the number of people in your party. I can accommodate 2-5 people in my vehicle. If you are a larger group, I can help you to arrange an open-air taxi upon arrival and lead you/the taxi out to the shoot location(s). It is best to coordinate these needs in advance. Can you hide my body issues? Sure - just make sure we understand those before we start. What might be a body issue to you might seem beautiful to us. We have techniques to compensate for virtually any look. Of course, highly visible concerns can also be handled in the post-production work - usually at no extra charge. Do you ever do portrait sessions in the States? Definitely. If you'd like to be on a e-mail list for our travel schedule, or request a stateside session, or get a greatly discounted session the next time we're in your geographic area, just let us know. A one-hour minimum is required for any photographer session. There are no location fees for any St. John locations; we can travel to and accommodate other islands. Our pricing is based solely on the complexity and duration of the shoot, which provides our client with the best value for their money. Whether you want 1 location or 3 makes no difference to us. We will gladly make recommendations based on your portrait goals.
